Wilson Reading System
Tanya is a Wilson Reading System (WRS) Level II certified language instructor and an International Dyslexia Association Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. WRS is a structured literacy program, based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles, which directly and systematically teaches the structure of language. From the beginning, students receive instruction in phonological awareness, decoding, morphology and vocabulary study, spelling, fluency, oral expressive language development and comprehension. Making Math Real
Tanya has completed Making Math Real (MMR) courses for the Elementary, Middle School and High School School sequence, including Kindergarten, Time & Money, Games!, the 9 Lines Intensive, the 4 Operations and the 400 Math Facts, Fractions, Decimals and Advanced Place Value, Comparing and Ordering Fractions Intensive, Pre-Algebra, Mental Percent Problem Solving Intensive, Mental Math Intensive, Algebra I and Algebra II. MMR is a structured numeracy program, based on sensory-cognitive development research, which explicitly and comprehensively teaches numeracy and mathematics skills, up to and including algebra and geometry, using direct, structured and multisensory methodologies. SRSD for Writing
Tanya practices Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) for writing. SRSD is an instructional approach designed to support students in learning and adopting the strategies used by skilled writers - such as extensive planning and revision. The self-regulation component encourages students to monitor, evaluate and revise their writing, which in turn strengthens self-management skills and independent learning.
